Clean. Polite. And followed government orders per the pandemic safety guidelines.
Great food and service was good. As of right now they close at 7pm due to Covid19
What kind of restaurant has a monopoly on sit down dining in a vacation town packed full, and shuts down before dinner time? What a complete joke. They deserve to go out of buisness. This town as a whole seems very cold to travelers which is surprising, because tourism seems to be the major industry. Pathetic.
Big boy was great .. we stopped here because in Nw Indiana we dont really have them...!!
The wait was terrible. After a half hour of waiting, we were seated and waited another half hour to get a server. The food was ok. Two of our orders were messed up. The waitress was nice but very slow and didn't seem too much in a hurry. The workers there didn't seemed bothered by having people wait so long. We always stop here when we're in the UP but we'll go to the diner next door.
Great place. Good atmosphere. Friendly people
Place was slammed with customers since bridge was closed, but we were seated in a timely manner. Ordered off the menu and food came fresh and hot without an extended period of waiting. Apparently they didn't have enough help because many tables were not cleaned and it took awhile for someone to come to the cash register so we could pay our bills.
Wait staff is amazing I these cha going times good food fast
Slightly understaffed due to the current Corona virus situation but the waitresses and staff were friendly and as fast their situation allowed. They did a great job !
Slow service. Food was not the greatest. There is a reason most big boys are closed and this one is on its way.
Very friendly service. Nice employees!
I generally don't write negative reviews. This review is for a restaurant that should never have been open with the untrained staff that was working. I would have closed and immediately done training even though it was 4th of July weekend. The staff obviously were mostly new and untrained. Customers were leaving in droves. Almost nobody was served and the food was setting on the window getting cold. We waited 40 minutes while 7 people were seated. Then we were told again that it would be another half hour at least. The ownership should be ashamed of themselves.
Food was great. Limited seating meant a bit of a wait at the front door.
We were in Mackinaw and cross the bridge to site see as usual and and decided upon eating at Big boys.
This big boy was terrible. The wait staff was not very good. Ot took forever to get our drinks, silverware and food. The restaurant wasn't even busy and it took almost an hour to get our food. People were walking out. If I had to choose McDonalds or this Big Boy, I'd choose McDonalds with no hesitation.
Judy is the best!! My husband and I are honeymoon-ing in Mackinaw City and, due to the virus and off-season, 99% of places are shut down, and those that are open are taking a long time to complete orders. Our orders from Big Boy (breakfast one day and dinner the next) were done by the time we arrived from the other side of the bridge and 100% accurate with a TON of extras in the bags (butter, syrup, ketchup, salt/pepper, silverware, etc)! The food was delicious and hit the spot each time. And the pie -- ohhhh boy! Yum yum yum. Thank you Judy for your hard work and friendliness! We can't wait to come back here 😊😊
Stopped by for breakfast food. Place seemed understaffed, with the host serving tables as well as seating customers. For this reason, it took at least 20 minutes to be seated. Once we ordered, however, the order was delivered promptly. The pancakes, eggs, and bacon I ordered tasted great. Restaurant wasn’t super clean, but not too bad.
Horrid! Everyone was so confused and they had full staff. Never have i warned anyone walking into a restaurant that there would be an hour wait with full staff for sub par breakfast (of all easy the easiest meals!. should've gotten up and went next door to the truck stop! just wanted yo give the old Big Boy a try. never again!
Tried to eat there tonight with my family after being on the road since 6am and being on vacation it was also my wife's birthday We get there and when we walked in the door the hostess informed us that they were already closed even though it was 15 minutes until their posted closing time. The reason we were given was that they had long wait times on food. It's always been my understanding that restaurants were required to seat people and take their orderes up until their posted closing times. Very poor customer service in my opinion. Will not ever be going back to this Big Boy
Amazing service, people we wall very nice the only reason for not getting 5 starts is the staff should have been wearing masks. But great food, and worth the wait!
Friendly and clean environment. Great staff and food.
The old time favorite doesn't disappoint. Great breakfast and pretty fast
Super nice staff. We have been there many times. But apparently during the Pandemic they are having staffing issues. We ordered our food and received our drinks. Waited close to an hour for the food and finally left. No food ever came.
Didn't hate it but I've had better food and faster service
All of the staff were snobby, rude and disrespectful. On top of that, we waited 50 minutes for our food after they told us 20 minutes. Another family came in after us and was out before we saw our food. Finally, We could’ve got a better burger at McDonalds.
Given current events, this may be a bit harsh. (This was at the end of the 1st wave of covid-19) That being said, we waited an hour and a half for our food when the restaurant was relatively not busy, my toast was burnt black and then when I asked for not burnt toast they gave me cold bread and butter, there was no soda because they had no carbonation, the kitchen was (allegedly) filthy, but at least the hot fudge ice cream cake took less than 5 minutes to arrive.
Took over an hour to be seated. 80% of tables open but dirty and nobody would clean them so we could be sat
We expect a little longer wait during Covid-19, but this was ridiculous. Over a half hour. Tables washed, but would not seat customers (tables had to "AIR" dry), never heard of such a thing, use paper towels. Young boy strolling around, no enthusiasm what so ever, could have cared less that he was even working. Fortunately, we had a good server once we were seated.
We had lunch in this big boy. It was disgusting. We will not be back or to any big boy restaurants again. The service was good but the food awful.
Overall it was amazing, the food was great and the lady was very very nice about everything, they did mess up a few things in the order at first, as most restaurants do, but even then they were very nice about it and very fun, i dont really know how to explain it other than that but it was different than a lot of other places I've been to in a good way
They're taking proper precautions for the coronavirus. Server was engaging but not overwhelming. Breakfast served pretty quickly, though toast and some entrees were no longer warm. TVs all tuned to Fox News - ugh.
This was our first time at Big Boy. We are traveling through U.P. And there was not much to choose from, so we decided to try Big Boy. It was good. Service was excellent.
The staff was super friendly and the food was great. Everything was clean and it was a great atmosphere
Big Boy's was a great example of how breakfast should be. Jessica was friendly, fast, and helpful. Eggs Bennie looked amazing and created correctly. Hash browns was tasty and crispy. Coffee was good. Steak and eggs was made correctly steak was done to our request. Hash browns were crispy.
4 of us ate here twice during our 4 day stay in St. Ignace. The service was awesome, the food was excellent, the value was exceptional, and Judy, the manager, was such a wonderful, generous person!! Thank you!! We’ll be back!!
McKenzie ( I apologize if I spelled her name wrong) was a PHENOMENAL server for it to only be her second day on the floor by her self!! ... my family and I stopped by for brunch/ lunch on our way home from vacation. She was so sweet, very attentive, and communicated very well. She even brought us fruit cups for waiting so long on our food. She will go far in this industry. Thank you for making our experience fantastic.. because finding good service in this town is hard to come by! McKenzie if you ever wanna work in a big city... message me I’ll get you jobs in Chicago!
This place doesn't practice social distancing at all.enter at your own risk.
Food was typical of big boys, however the service and overall organization of this restaurant was horrendous. When the lobby was full, no one took names so the customers were left to figure out who was next. Food was always sitting on the heat lamps, not being served to the customers. Staff cannot prioritize customers.
Never had a problem at this location. Love me the big boy experience.
They were short staffed and still didn't an excellent job. Thanks for making my birthday breakfast 😋 so nice.
Very good service considered they were spacing tables apart. There was a wait each time we went but only about 20 minutes. Food was delicious at least for big boy standards.Staff was super friendly and helpful for us out of town visitors.
We stopped for dinner on our way back to the Soo, a party of 4, we were seated immediately. Our server Jessica was AMAZING! She was friendly, fast and checked on us several times. Our food was delicious and hot and delivered to our table pretty quickly. Dessert was outstanding! We ordered the banana split and the hot fudge brownies with ice cream. We will definitely be going back 🙂
Horrible!!! Several open tables even with social distancing and it was still going to be a half hour to get seated and an hour or more to receive food! We left! Went to newberry better food and no wait!
Worst of the worst......food was so terrible on a take out order. Had smokehouse burger but it didn't have any BBQ sause on it. I got 7 fries in my order.....and paid $ 12.00!!!!! I should have known, because there was 1 car in the parking lot. Across the Street was clydes and they were packed!!!!! Never again will I go to Big Boys anywhere.
The food was great and the waitress was very helpful and attentive. Buffet was limited but fresh. Very family-friendly with great art as well.
Easter Brunch was very nice. Price was not bad either. Wait staff was very nice and handled our group with no problem. Will eat here again.
Decent food was met with mediocre service. I ordered a build your own burger which didnt include 3 of the 7 ingredients I asked for. Atmosphere was alright, decent decor. There is much room for improvement.
Hit or miss if doing the buffet. Some stuff good, other stuff not so good. Especially if you hit the transition times between breakfast and lunch or lunch and dinner. Basic foods, nothing to rave about but its not bad. Kids like it.
Food was delicious. Staff was friendly, polite, prompt, and professional.
Horrible food with an even worse wait time!!!! Undercooked eggs and hashbrowns, super burnt bacon. Only thing even hardly tolerable was the sausage link. Overall, avoid.. super letdown total waste.
